A lithograph with the representation of the Resurrection, a subject full of strong symbolism, made even more intense by the wonderful Byzantine technique followed by the iconographer. Jesus Christ can be seen in the center of the image, wrapped in white light, while a dark abyss projects from below, that is, Christ is presented as the only conqueror of death.

“And he rose on the third day according to the Scriptures”, refers to the Creed about Christ’s triumphant resurrection from the dead. The Resurrection of Jesus symbolizes the passage from death to life, while at the same time through the Resurrection Life and Death acquire another meaning.

Lithography: Characteristics

The specific image with the representation of the Resurrection has been created using the lithography technique. This particular technique is taught in the iconography workshops of Mount Athos and at the same time is used by several monks to create exceptional works of art.
