A magnificent silk screen print depicting the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This artwork is rich in powerful symbolism, further emphasized by the stunning Byzantine style followed by the monk iconographer. Jesus Christ is portrayed at the center of the icon, surrounded by radiant white light, as the sole conqueror of death.

“And He rose again on the third day, according to the Scriptures,” states the Creed, referring to Christ’s triumphant resurrection from the dead. The Resurrection of Jesus symbolizes the passage from death to life, while also giving new meaning to both Life and Death through His victory.

The piece of wood used for this specific icon comes from restoration works in a monastic cell on Mount Athos, which had suffered significant wear over time. However, as the monks make use of everything that can be repurposed, they collect old wood, process and preserve it, and give it new life, this time as a base for icons. Through this method, stunning works of art are created, carrying a piece of Athonite history beyond the borders of the Holy Mountain.

As the icon is handmade and the wood is processed manually, there may be slight variations in the wood itself, but not in the depiction.
