Agia Triada – Lithograph – Mount Athos

Description

This color lithograph, which was artfully edited by a monk hagiographer of Mount Athos, depicts the three Faces of the Holy Trinity.

The Father as an old man with white hair and beard, the Son depicted seated at His right hand and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove flying among them.

This way of depicting the Holy Trinity refers to the late Byzantine and especially to the post-Byzantine times.

The hagiography of the Holy Trinity is elaborated with the method of artificial aging as taught by the Mount Athos monk in the Garden of the Virgin Mary.
