Description

Sandblasted gold printing with Holy Patience

A stunning gold print with Holy Patience.

Saint Patience came from royal lineage and was a Christian with deep faith in God. At the age of 19, she married Manuel II Palaiologos (end of 1390 AD), a few months before he became Emperor. As empress she loved the people, while at the same time she was a blessed mother of eight children, to whom she taught the Christian faith. She herself, after the death of her husband, became a nun, in the Monastery of Mrs. Martha, with the name of Patience, while three of her children chose the same path. It was God’s will that he should not live through the last tragic moments of the Empire. He called her to Him on March 13, 1450 AD, having spent 35 years as Empress and 25 as a humble nun.

Gold Sandblasting: Features

In the icon with the representation of Saints Constantine and Helen, the hagiographer monk used the gold printing technique creating a work of unique beauty. Gold printing is a type of thermotype technique. Thermography is the name of the method by which very thin metallic gold foil is placed on surfaces such as wood, leather, cardboard, plastic by pressing a heated embossed plate (cliché) onto our surface. Around the image you also use the sandblasting technique, it is the technical processing by which the corrosion of a part or the whole of a surface is achieved by throwing sand under pressure.
