Handmade Hagiography with Saint Paisios, on an aged piece of wood by the hand of Hieromonk Grigoriou
In this iconography, Saint Paisios the Saint (July 25, 1924 – July 12, 1994) is depicted, who became widely known for his life and work.
His classification as a Saint of the Orthodox Church was carried out by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople on January 13, 2015, while the Orthodox Church celebrates his memory on July 12. In fact, in 2017 he was declared the Patron Saint of the military weapon of the Transmissions, by decision of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece.

Saint Paisios spent his last years in the cell of Panagouda on Mount Athos, where he was visited by multitudes of people to hear him and receive his blessing. He lived an intense ascetic life, with minimal rest of 2 to 3 hours a day. After his death, he was buried in the Holy Hermitage of Saint John the Theologian in Souroti, Thessaloniki. Since then, every year on July 11 to 12, on his feast day, a vigil is held in the Holy Sanctuary, with the participation of thousands of believers.

Handmade Hagiography: Characteristics
This specific iconography comes from the Agiorite iconographer Hieromonk Grigorios from the Holy Cell of Agia Annis. It is crafted entirely by hand, on a naturally aged piece of wood. The colors used are consistent with the Byzantine tradition, while the work has been crafted according to the style of the Macedonian school, which is followed in the workshop of Hieromonk Grigorios.
This unique hagiography has a background of 22-carat gold leaf, while its surface is covered with pure beeswax, so that the colors remain bright over time.
