Saint Paisios (July 12)
The Holy Father Paisios the Agiorite was born of pious parents in Farasa, Cappadocia on July 25, 1924 AD, a few days before the Farasiites fled their homeland for Greece. At his baptism, Saint Arsenios of Cappadocia (November 10), named him Arsenios, “to leave him a monk at his feet”, as he characteristically said. He became widely known for his monastic life and work. His classification as a saint of the Orthodox Church was carried out by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople on January 13, 2015. In 2017, he was declared the patron saint of the military weapon of the Transmigrations, by decision of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece.
