This specific iconography has been crafted based on Byzantine iconography standards. The depiction of the Saint has been painted entirely by hand. Coating the hagiography with pure beeswax ensures that the colors of the image remain unchanged over time.

An amazing iconography with Saint George, the Great Martyr and Trophy Bearer. He was born about 275 AD. in Cappadocia, from Christian parents. His father, in fact, died as a martyr for Christ when George was ten years old. When he turned 18 he enlisted in the Roman army and was quickly promoted to higher positions, while the Emperor Diocletian himself held him in high esteem.

However, he did not hesitate to confess his faith before the emperor, who had begun a struggle to exterminate the Christians. Diocletian was enraged and imprisoned George, subjecting him to a series of tortures. However, one night and while he was imprisoned, Saint George saw in his dream Christ who announced his death and his entry into eternal life. Indeed the next day Diocletian ordered and he was beheaded.
