Serigraph of Prophet Elijah on Naturally Aged Wood
This particular serigraph depicts the Prophet Elijah (July 20), one of the greatest prophets, who prophesied the coming of Christ to Earth 816 years before His birth. He was gifted with miraculous powers, and he fought zealously and selflessly for God, passionately battling idolatry.
The Prophet Elijah exercised his prophetic gift for 25 years, and his faith was so great that he called down fire from heaven three times, stopped the rain, resurrected the dead, and ultimately ascended to heaven in a chariot of fire. It is characteristic that his chapels are built on high points and mountain peaks and are celebrated with great crowds every year.
This remarkable serigraph created by the monk, along with the ancient wood, confirmed by the cracks running across its surface, are two of the key elements that make this particular image collectible. In addition to the magnificent depiction of Prophet Elijah, the monk used as a base for the image naturally aged wood from a restored cell of Mount Athos.
As the image is handmade and the wood is worked by hand, there may be small variations in the wood, but not in the depiction.
The image is available upon request.
