Description

Lithograph of Saint Panteleimon

A lithograph of Saint Panteleimon, who hailed from Nicomedia in Asia Minor. The cause of his martyrdom was a miracle he performed. Specifically, he healed a blind man, who then reported the event to the king, even stating that after his healing, he himself believed in God. The king ordered the beheading of the healed blind man and summoned Panteleimon.

Saint Panteleimon was brought before the king, who ordered him to be tortured in an attempt to force him to renounce his faith. However, he did not give in, as the Lord appeared before him to give him courage. In the end, the king ordered him to be beheaded. According to tradition, no blood flowed from his wounds, but milk did, and the olive tree to which he was tied suddenly bore fruit.
