According to tradition, Saint Jude Thaddaeus was a religiously educated Jew who had traveled to Jerusalem for a pilgrimage during the time that John the Baptist was preaching. In fact, after hearing his preaching and observing his way of life, he was so impressed that he sought baptism from him. However, after hearing the teachings of Christ and witnessing His miracles, he became a disciple of Christ and followed Him until His Passion. He then preached the Gospel in various regions, including Judea, Samaria, Syria, Mesopotamia, and Libya.
