Description

A wonderful serigraph depicting Saint Andrew.

Andrew, a fisherman by trade, was from Bethsaida in Galilee and was the brother of the Apostle Peter. Since he was the first among the disciples called by the Lord, he was named Protocletus.

Andrew (along with John the Evangelist) was initially a disciple of John the Baptist, who one day, showing them Jesus, said, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” The two simple fishermen were so moved that without any hesitation or reserve, they immediately left their teacher and followed Jesus.

Apostle Andrew preached in Bithynia, the Black Sea, Thrace, Macedonia, and Epirus. Eventually, he ended up in Achaea, where his teachings and miraculous healings angered the proconsul, who, urged by pagan priests, arrested Andrew and crucified him on a cross shaped like an X.

The naturally aged wood, sourced from a restored Athonite cell, on which the image is crafted, gives it a unique aesthetic and collectible value, while also conveying a piece of its long history beyond the Athonite State.

As the icon is handmade and the wood processing is done by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, but not in the depiction.

The icon is available by special order.
