Panagia Zoodochos Pigi of Baloukli or Panagia Baloukliotissa is a sacred Christian holy water located in Constantinople outside the western gate of Silivria. Today in the courtyard of Zoodochos Pigi are the tombs of the Ecumenical Patriarchs. The holy water is located in the underground Church of Panagia and consists of a marble spring, the water of which is considered sanctified.  From here the type of Panagia Zoodochos Pigi spread throughout the Orthodox world.

Lithograph: Features

In the icon with the representation of the Virgin Mary, the hagiographer monk used the technique of lithography creating a work of unique aesthetics. Specifically, using a lithographed copy of Byzantine art, the monk created this work following the traditional method of artificial aging, as taught in the hagiography workshops of the Athonite State. In fact, the artificial aging of hagiography is handmade, a process to which the monks of Mount Athos pay particular attention.
