The humble Daughter of Nazareth became the joy of the Angels, the Saints, and all people through the ages. This is why the sacred hymnographer in the Canon of the Akathist Hymn exclaims: “Rejoice, O Harmony of the Angels.”

Rejoice, that is, you who are the exultation and joy of the angelic orders. She is the joy of the Angels because she is the Mother of God, the Queen of heaven and earth. She is the one who gave her flesh to the Son of God for our salvation. And they rejoice even more when people hymn and glorify Her, for She is “more honorable than the Cherubim and incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim.”

Therefore, we should often turn to her with reverence and humility, repeating the supplicatory hymn of the sacred hymnographer:

“Strength and protection for mankind, rejoice O Immaculate, vessel of sanctification of glory; death’s conquest, radiant Bride; rejoice, Harmony of the Angels, rejoice, the help of those faithfully calling upon you.”
