An amazing serigraph featuring the Theotokos surrounded by angels and Prophets.

In this specific image, the Theotokos is depicted enthroned at the center, occupying the majority of the space. To her right and left, two angelic figures can be seen. The rest of the image showcases the figures of Prophets, who are turned towards the Theotokos, as if addressing her. On their open scrolls, the prophecies are inscribed, foretelling that she would be the one to bring Jesus Christ into the world to save humanity. The scrolls also contain verses about the incarnation of her Son, Jesus Christ, His Passion, and His sacrifice for the salvation of mankind from sin.

It is a wonderful image, notable not only for its theme and the meticulous craftsmanship but also for the wood used as the base. The monk who created this icon used naturally aged wood from a cell of Mount Athos, which had been restored. Specifically, when a cell or hut on Mount Athos is renovated, the monks keep some of the used wood, and after conservation, they reuse it as the base for icons. These remarkable works of art carry with them a small piece of the history of this sacred place, as they were once part of it.

Since the icon is handmade and the wood is processed by hand, there may be small variations in the wood, but not in the depiction.
