The original icon of Panagia Portaitissa is located in the Holy Monastery of Iviron and, according to tradition, is the work of the Evangelist Luke. The name “Portaitissa” was given to it because of its position, as it is placed in the chapel of the Holy Monastery of Iviron, to the left of the central gate.

In this color lithograph of Panagia Portaitissa, which is an exact replica of the original, the talented Athonite iconographer has applied artificial aging with a gold finish. Around the halo, gold color has been applied with small embossed details. In the four corners, the image is decorated with a gold finish, between the engravings of the artificial aging.

The strict expression of the Virgin’s face, accentuated by her captivating gaze, evokes awe.

The icon of Panagia Portaitissa is crafted with the highest possible quality, staying true to the original. It is hand-finished and coated with pure beeswax, following the criteria of the Macedonian School of Mount Athos.
