In this most unusual image, the Virgin Mary is depicted as sweet and young, with four spears on her right shoulder and three on her left, all held by her hands.

The naturally aged wood used for this image comes from the Garden of the Virgin Mary, specifically from a monks’ cell, which was renovated due to damage sustained over time. The wood was carefully worked by the hands of a monk, preserved, and ultimately became the base for this image.

The image has double value, not only because it depicts the most beloved sacred figure of Christianity, the Virgin Mary, but also because the wood comes from the Garden of the Theotokos itself and carries with it the blessings and prayers of the Athonite fathers.
