Description

Icon of the Virgin of the Seven Sorrows on Naturally Aged Wood

An exceptional silkscreen icon depicting the Virgin of the Seven Sorrows, crafted on wood that comes from the renovation of a cell in Mount Athos.

The miraculous icon “The One Who Heals the Hard Hearts” has the grace to protect all who call upon it, stopping every evil that threatens not only the faithful but their entire family.

In this unusual icon, the Virgin is depicted as sweet and young, with four spears on her right shoulder and three on her left, held by her hands.

The significance of each of the seven spears is to overcome a manifestation of the “evil one”:

  • 1st: MAGIC, negative influences – temptations
  • 2nd: DISEASES – mental and psychological disorders
  • 3rd: Problems in MARRIAGE, FERTILITY, and CHILDREN
  • 4th: PERSONAL CALAMITIES (accidents, travel dangers, etc.)
  • 5th: ENVY, SLANDER, EVIL EYE, CURSE
  • 6th: DECEPTION, INJUSTICE, and ALL KINDS OF FRAUD

The naturally aged wood used for this icon comes from the Garden of the Virgin, specifically from a monk’s cell that was renovated due to damage sustained over time. The wood was carefully worked by a monk’s hands, restored, and ultimately became the base for this icon.

This icon holds double significance, not only because it depicts the most beloved sacred figure in Christianity, the Virgin, but also because the wood comes from the very Garden of the Theotokos, carrying with it the blessings and prayers of the Athonite monks.

As the icon is handcrafted and the wood processing is done by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, but not in the depiction itself.

The icon is available upon request.
