According to tradition, this particular title was given to the Theotokos because she is depicted holding Jesus in her right hand, while the more common depiction shows the Divine Infant in her left hand.

However, there is another interpretation according to which the Virgin Mary is and always has been the intercessor for humans before God. She is the one who receives the supplications, prayers, and pleas of all those who turn to her for help. Panagia Dexiokratousa is the Mother of God, the mediator, and the savior, always present by the side of every person, waiting to hear their prayers and intercede for their fulfillment.

Canvas Icon – Features

In the technique of printing on canvas, the iconographer monk used a replica of a Byzantine icon and embellished the work with embossed elements. The construction of the icon is done entirely by hand using an aging technique. The canvas is treated with plaster so that the colors of the image remain unchanged over time.
