Handmade Hagiography of Panagia Rodon the Amaranto, on an aged piece of wood by the hand of Hieromonk Grigoriou
The Rose of Jericho or otherwise the rose of Panagia or the immortal rose of the Resurrection, is a plant that symbolizes eternity and the indestructible, immortality of the soul because it never dies.
It comes from the regions of Jordan. It is the desert rose. Tradition says that the rose of Jericho accompanied the Virgin on her lonely journey from Jerusalem to Egypt and that, out of respect for her grace, it opened next to her at every stop and closed again to follow her steps through the desert, every time she continued on her way!
Handmade Hagiography: Characteristics
This specific iconography comes from the Agiorite iconographer Hieromonk Grigorios from the Holy Cell of Agia Annis. It is crafted entirely by hand, on a naturally aged piece of wood. The colors used are consistent with the Byzantine tradition, while the work has been crafted according to the style of the Macedonian school, which is followed in the workshop of Hieromonk Grigorios.
This unique hagiography has a background of 22-carat gold leaf, while its surface is covered with pure beeswax, so that the colors remain bright over time.
