Icon of the Crucifixion on Naturally Aged Wood

An exquisite serigraph depicting the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

In the center of the image is the Cross of martyrdom, with the Virgin Mary beneath it on the right, accompanied by three other women, known as the Three Maries, including Mary Magdalene. On the left is the beloved disciple of Jesus and apostle, Saint John the Theologian, to whom Jesus speaks, telling him that the Virgin Mary will now be his mother.

The Crucifixion of Christ is considered the supreme sacrifice, an act of unparalleled love by Jesus for all of humanity. For this reason, the cross is regarded as the most important symbol of the Orthodox Church and Christian religion in general, as it reminds of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the salvation of mankind through His Passion and death. It therefore symbolizes both Christ Himself and the faith of Christians.

The remarkable serigraph created by the monk and the age of the wood, confirmed by the cracks on its surface, are two of the main elements that make this particular icon collectible.

As the icon is handmade and the wood processing is done by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, but not in the depiction.
