Silk screen printing with Jesus Christ as the Bridegroom. In Orthodox Christianity, Jesus is compared to the Bridegroom, as in His person takes place a sacred “marriage” between God and humanity, while at the same time, we have in one person the coexistence of God and man. This is why Christ is also called the “Bridegroom of the Church.” Moreover, the relationship between husband and wife is compared by the Apostle Paul to the relationship between Christ and the Church. In the person of Christ, we see His limitless love for man, for all of humanity, because only with this love could He make such a sacrifice, that is, to become a humble man, to suffer, and ultimately to be crucified.

The naturally aged wood used for this icon comes from a cell in Mount Athos that was renovated due to damage caused by the passage of time and the elements of nature. The old wood that was replaced was collected by the monks, and after being preserved with special techniques, it became the foundation for creating icons.

As the icon is handmade and the woodwork is done by hand, there may be slight variations in the wood, but not in the depiction.
