Jesus Christ Transfiguration – Lithograph – Mount Athos

Description

The image of the Transfiguration of Christ is the key to Orthodox theology for the vision of God. High in the center of the image, at the top of Mount Tabor in Galilee, is the Transfigured Christ; with one hand, He blesses, while with the other, He holds a closed scroll.

Christ is framed by the standing figures of the Prophet Elijah on the left and Moses, who holds the tablets of God’s Law, on the right.

The icon of the Transfiguration of Christ is a colorful lithograph with handmade details.

It was crafted by a monk-iconographer, well-versed in Byzantine iconography and the technique of artificial aging at Mount Athos.
