In the parable of the Good Shepherd, recorded in the Gospel of John (10:11), the Lord said, “I am the good shepherd.” He compared Himself to a shepherd, a herdsman, who has the flock as His Church, meaning the faithful.

Jesus, as the caring and good shepherd, loves and genuinely cares for His flock. He tends to it and is constantly engaged with it. He attends to all the needs of the members of His flock and is deeply concerned for their safety and protection.

The parable of the Good Shepherd aims to emphasize God’s boundless love for humanity. While God may be infinite, a person can develop a personal relationship of love with Him.
