Sandblasting with the Vine

An amazing icon depicting the Vine.

In this image, Christ is represented as the trunk of a tree, with the Twelve Apostles surrounding Him. Six of them are depicted on one side and six on the other, as branches of the tree. Christ is in the center of the image, with His arms open, blessing, and holding an open Gospel in His arms, which reads: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.” The symbolism is particularly important in this iconographic theme, where Jesus Christ is portrayed as the vine that gives life to its branches, enabling them to bear fruit. In fact, the branches can only bear fruit as long as they are connected to the trunk, and not if they are cut off, just as it happens with the faithful of the Church.
