Description

Constantinato Metal Neck Amulet – ICXC NIKA:

A unique monastery handcrafted piece that carries the blessings of the monks of Mount Athos. The monks create numerous amulets and crosses as part of their ministries. Known for the special beauty of their works of art, the monks accompany their labor with heartfelt prayers and blessings.

At “Agioritic Heritage,” you will find a wide variety of Constantinatos to offer as gifts to your loved ones, granting them the protection of our Lord.

Constantinato – What It Symbolizes:

The history of this unique piece of jewelry began when Saint Helen discovered the Holy Cross, divided it into two, leaving a part in Jerusalem and bringing the other to Constantinople. The shavings that fell from the splitting were mixed with other precious metals, and from the final union, the Constantinato coins were minted. This explains their shape as amulets, which resemble coins from that era.

The Constantinato was named after the Emperor and depicted on one side Constantine and Helen, and on the other side, the cross with “Jesus Christ Conquers” (ICXC NIKA).

Today, it is common to offer the Constantinato for the birth or baptism of a child, as well as to loved ones as an amulet. Beyond just amulets, they are believed to have even miraculous properties. They are often placed alongside icons, and in many parts of Greece, the faithful bring them every Holy Thursday to the churches to be blessed.
