Description

Metal Constantinato Amulet for the Neck – ICXC NIKA:

A unique monastic craft that carries the blessings of the monks of Mount Athos. The monks create a variety of amulets and crosses as part of their duties. Known for the special beauty of their intricate works, the monks accompany their craftsmanship with heartfelt prayers and blessings.

At “Mount Athos Heritage,” you will find a wide variety of Constantinato amulets to offer as gifts to your loved ones, granting them the protection of our Lord.

Constantinato – What It Symbolizes:

The history of this special piece of jewelry began when Saint Helena found the True Cross, cut it in half, left a part in Jerusalem, and brought the other to Constantinople. The sawdust from the cutting was mixed with other precious metals, and from this final combination, the Constantinato coins were minted. This explains their shape as amulets, which resemble the coins of that era.

The Constantinato took its name from the Emperor and depicted, on one side, Constantine and Helena, and on the other, the cross and the inscription “Jesus Christ Conquers” (ICXC NIKA).

Today, it is common to offer the Constantinato at the birth or baptism of a child, as well as to loved ones as an amulet. Beyond being simple amulets, they are believed to have miraculous properties. They are often placed alongside icons, and in many parts of Greece, the faithful bring them to churches every Holy Thursday to be blessed.
