The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ is an event of paramount importance for the Orthodox Church. The monastic neck cross depicts the event of the Crucifixion, with Jesus in the center of the composition and His head slightly turned to the right.

To the right of Christ is depicted the Virgin Mary, to the left John the Evangelist, while above Jesus two sorrowful angels reveal the heavenly powers participating in the Passion.

The embossed ICXC inscription and engraved details reveal the detailed work that has been done.

Neck Cross – back view

On the back of the Cross we have the depiction of the Holy Trinity according to the style of the great Russian hagiographer A. Roublev. Three Angels, without age difference, sit around a table and bless the calf in the center of the table. The three persons, without age or gender, form a visual whole with intangible beauty and are reminiscent of the words of the Prophet Isaiah, “the king in glory be seen” (33.17).
