Hollow neck cross made of pure silver
A cross made entirely of pure silver 925owith amazing details all over its surface. The peculiarity of this jewelry lies in the fact that it is a hollow cross, which opens in two and inside can be placed anything we want. Usually pieces of cotton soaked in holy myrrh are placed, as well as relics of saints.
Artwork from Mount Athos : What it depicts
On one side of the Cross there is a representation of the Virgin Mary as an Athonite woman. Christian tradition says that the mother of Christ visited Mount Athos together with John the Evangelist, going to Cyprus to visit Lazarus. However, due to a terrible storm they disembarked on the coast where the Holy Monastery of Iviron is located today. From that moment on, the whole area is the garden of the Virgin Mary and a port for the salvation of those who want to be saved. On the second side there is a relief representation of the Crucified, while on the side of the cross there is engraved the phrase “LORD JESUS CHRIST SON OF GOD”.
