Cross for Neck – front view

On the front side of the Cross and in the center of the composition, the Virgin Mary can be seen holding in her arms the Little Christ in the form of the Infant. Around the Virgin Mary stand out the relief inscriptions LORD HAVE MERCY ON ME, MR THY (Mother of God) and IC XC (Jesus Christ).

Neck cross – back

On the reverse, the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ has been carved, an event of paramount importance for the Orthodox Church. Jesus is in the center of the composition while His head is slightly turned to the right.

On the vertical beam of the cross, at the top, there is an inscription with the large letters “INBI” (Jesus of Nazarene, King of the Jews). The Holy Lance, with which the Roman Centurion Longinus pierced Christ in the ribs, is to the left of the Cross and the sponge with which he watered it with bile and vinegar on the left.
