Description

Engraved Cherubim Ring made of 925 Silver. It offers blessings and protection to the wearer.

The Cherubim are angelic beings that participate in the worship of God. The Cherubim are first mentioned in the Bible in Genesis 3:24: “So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.” Before his fall, Satan was a Cherub (Ezekiel 28:12-15). The scene of martyrdom, the temple, and its objects contained many representations of Cherubim.

According to Orthodox theology, as summarized in the teachings of Saint John of Damascus, the “Angelical Powers” are spiritual beings, ever-moving, free, incorporeal, serving God, and are by grace immortal.

The shape and state of these beings are known only to God. However, the angels are incorporeal and ever-moving compared to humans. In comparison to God, the only true incorporeal being, they are clumsy and material. They are made of subtle matter. Only God is truly immaterial and incorporeal. They do not need language or hearing, but communicate their personal thoughts and decisions among themselves without spoken words. When they communicate with humans, they take shape and form so that humans can see them. Their appearance is radiant, and their clothing is usually white, which signifies their purity. Their food is the sight of God, whom they see according to their ability.

The angels and archangels protect the parts of the earth, are rulers of nations and countries, as appointed by the Creator, they organize human affairs, and protect those who call upon them, mainly from the hatred and fury of the devil. “Where your grace shines, Archangel, there the power of the devil is driven away, for the fallen Lucifer cannot bear your light…” (Doxology of the Hymns, November 8).

In every Divine Liturgy, which is the assembly of heaven and earth, angels co-officiate with the Archbishop or Priest. In the small entrance, the priest asks the Lord to send angels to co-officiate with him and to glorify the goodness of God. The Deacon also prays: “We ask the Lord to send us an angel of peace, a faithful guide, a guardian of our souls and bodies.”

<p"There are nine heavenly ranks and three orders or three systems, each consisting of a triad."
