Description
Prayer Rope with 50 Beads
This dark red prayer rope consists of 50 beads, with tassels of the same shade at the end. It is an authentic monastic craft made by the nuns of the Monastery of Saint Nicholas, who, faithful to tradition, create beautiful handmade items with patience, devotion, and love for others. Both prayer ropes and other monastic crafts are an integral part of monastic tradition, serving not only as prayer aids but also as protective amulets.
Prayer Rope: Usage
The prayer rope usually consists of 33, 50, or 100 beads, though larger prayer ropes may have 200 or 300 beads. It is an essential prayer aid for clergy, monks, and laypeople alike. According to Christian tradition, prayer ropes trace their origin to Saint Pachomius in the year 320 AD. Specifically, Saint Pachomius sought a way to help monks focus during prayer, and the Archangel Gabriel appeared to him in a dream, showing him how to create the tool that would support their prayer needs.
