An Athonite neck cross with 50 knots and a cross. It is woven with synthetic thread in black color and features 1 black bead along with 2 metallic elements.
The prayer rope is not exclusive to the monks. According to the command of the Apostle Paul, “pray without ceasing,” anyone can carry a prayer rope in their pocket or another discreet place, allowing them to pray silently and unnoticed, at any time of the day.
