The prayer rope is not exclusive to monks. According to the Apostle Paul’s command, “pray without ceasing,” anyone can carry a prayer rope in their pocket or any discreet place, enabling them to pray quietly and unnoticed, at any moment of the day.

In the Garden of the Virgin (Mount Athos), the Orthodox monastic tradition sees prayer as an essential daily exercise and communication with God. Whether in solitude or during the sacred services at the Monastery’s Katholikon, the monks engage in prayer with fervor and miraculous results.

The creation of the prayer rope is a service performed by the monks of Mount Athos. Through a variety of monastic products they produce, they offer every believer the opportunity to experience the monastic life as the core of nourishment for Orthodox Christians worldwide.
