The prayer rope is not exclusive to monks. According to the command of the Apostle Paul, “pray without ceasing,” anyone can keep a prayer rope in their pocket or another discreet place, so they can pray unnoticed, without attracting attention at any time of the day.

In the Garden of the Virgin, the Orthodox monastic tradition designates prayer as a necessary daily practice and communication with God. Whether alone or during the Sacred Services at the Katholikon of the Holy Monastery, the monks engage in prayer with fervor and remarkable results.

The making of the prayer rope is a service of the monks on Mount Athos, who, through a wide range of monastic products they produce, allow each believer to experience the monastic life as a core source of nourishment for Orthodox Christians everywhere.
