Archangel Michael

Archangel Michael is believed to be the leader of the heavenly hosts and appears throughout the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament), even from the very beginning of creation.
He is the angel who announced to Abraham the command to sacrifice his son Isaac—then intervened to stop it—and the one who appeared to Lot, saving him and his family from the destruction of Sodom. Michael also led the people of Israel out of Egypt, appearing as a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night (Exodus 13:26), guiding them to the Promised Land.
