Description

Wood-Carved Hanging Amulet with the Virgin Mary Eptaspiti (Seven-Sworded)

A beautiful wood-carved amulet from Mount Athos featuring a relief depiction of the Virgin Mary Eptaspiti (Seven-Sworded).

This is an aesthetically pleasing and practical handcrafted item made from limewood or cherry wood, created by monks with great skill in wood carving. With its relatively small size and well-thought-out design (thanks to the cord at the top), it can be placed anywhere in the home, in the car, or even inside a bag, allowing the faithful to always feel close to the Grace and protection of the Virgin Mary.

It can also serve as a wonderful gift for our loved ones.

On the back, the exact name of the representation is inscribed.

The Uniqueness of the Virgin Mary Eptaspiti

This is a particularly rare representation of the Virgin Mary Eptaspiti. In this specific amulet, the Virgin Mary is depicted with three swords on each shoulder, and a seventh sword piercing her heart from below, symbolizing her immense sorrow for all she endured, particularly the loss of her beloved Son. In fact, a Russian tradition mentions that images with this particular representation are usually placed at the entrance of homes to protect them from envy, the evil eye, and illness.
