Description
Wooden hanging amulet with Saint George
A wonderful wood-carved amulet from Mount Athos with a relief representation of Saint George.
It is an elegant & handy handiwork made in linden or cherry wood, by monks with great skill in wood processing. In a relatively small size and with a well-thought-out construction (thanks to the cord on top), it can be placed anywhere in the house, in the car or even in a bag, so that the believer feels that he always has the Grace and protection of the Saint close to him.
At the same time, it can be a very beautiful gift for the people we love.
On the back is the exact name of the representation.
Agios Georgios
The popular Saint George the Great Martyr and Trophy-bearer was born around 275 AD in Cappadocia, to Christian parents. His father, in fact, died a martyr for Christ when George was ten years old. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the Roman army where he won over his superiors and was quickly promoted to higher positions.
When Emperor Diocletian gathered all the officials to undertake the exterminating struggle against the Christians, George, being among them, confesses that he is a Christian. Enraged, the emperor orders his beheading after cruel torture.
Saint George is considered the patron saint of the Infantry and the Army. His memory is celebrated on April 23. However, if this date falls during Lent (before Easter), then the memory of the Saint is celebrated the day after Easter (Easter Monday).
