Prosforo Machine Stamp

The Prosforo Machine Stamp is made of poplar wood and features authentic symbolism that faithfully follows the traditional Orthodox representation for the Holy Mystery of the Divine Eucharist.

Prosforo Stamp from Mount Athos – What Does It Symbolize?

The round shape of the stamp symbolizes the womb of the Virgin Mary, from which (was born) the only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

In the center, a square is engraved with the words “Ιησούς Χριστός Νικά” (Jesus Christ Conquers). This part is called the “Lamb,” and the priest cuts it into a cube shape from the Prosforo during the Proskomidi (Preparation), placing it on the Holy Diskos.

It is this piece that is later transformed into the Body of Christ. To the left, there is a triangular piece containing the letters “Μ” and “Θ” (Μήτηρ Θεού, Mother of God), which symbolizes the Virgin Mary.

On the right, there is a square piece enclosing 9 triangles. These represent the nine orders of Angels and Saints.
