Seal for Prosphora of Mount Athos – What Does It Symbolize?
This section is called the “Lamb,” and the priest cuts it in the shape of a cube from the prosphora during the Proskomede.
This piece is placed on the Holy Diskos and later becomes the Body of Christ. On the left, there is a triangular section containing the letters Μ and Θ (Mother of God), symbolizing the Virgin Mary.
On the right, there is a square section enclosing nine triangles. These represent the nine orders of Angels and Saints.
