The Incense Set of the Holy Hilandari Cell of the Holy Archangels is a 100% authentic monastic product. It is made with personal care and much prayer by the monk Paisios. Its preparation requires painstaking work as the incense goes through many stages until it takes its final form.

Musk Incense and Symbolism

Myrrh symbolizes our prayer reaching the throne of God. The Musk is placed inside the censer, on top of the burning charcoal. Just as the charcoal burns, the musk heats up, melts and releases its wonderful aromas.

The smoke and its aroma rise up and symbolize the Christian’s prayer which, when offered with the fervor of his heart, ascends to heaven and reaches God the Father.

The offering of incense is a commandment of God, even from the Old Testament. This blessed habit is an element of Orthodox tradition and worship. “Let my prayer be directed as incense before you” refers to the second verse of the 1st Psalm that is read every evening in the Vespers service.

The burning of incense is not only carried out in the temple during the Church services. Every Christian in his home should observe this beautiful and blessed habit so that his prayer will be heard by God.

How to use:

Ignite the charcoal in the censer and leave it for about 4-5 minutes, until it turns from black to almost gray. Then carefully place 1, 2 or 3 sprigs of frankincense on it.

The one sprig of frankincense signifies the One and Only God, the two sprigs signify the dual nature of our Lord Jesus Christ. God and Man (Theanthropos) and all three the Holy Trinity. Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Pass the censer all over your space with open windows to let the smoke escape along with anything negative.
