Saint John Chrysostom, during the great earthquakes in Antioch, told the Christians: “Go and write on your walls ‘Christ with us stand firm,'” meaning that “Christ is with us, let my house stand, not fall.” Indeed, wherever Christians believed, not a single house was cracked. Where they mocked, the houses fell!

Later, the faithful, imitating their suffering brothers in Antioch, wrote “Christ with us stand firm” above the main entrance of their homes, fully trusting in the protection of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary.
