My Prayer Book

Spiritual communication with God is necessary for every Christian. In addition to being God’s command, prayer is the necessary nourishment of man’s soul. Through prayer, man speaks to his Father and Maker. He asks for help with his problems, support and comfort.

Prayer, however, is not only supplication and the expression of requests. It is both a praise and a hymn to the Most Holy God for the blessings He bestows on man.

Because man’s attention is easily distracted and does not focus on worshipping God at prayer time, the Prayer Book is an indispensable aid for every Christian. It includes the most important and intimate wishes and services of the Church.

The wishes, services and prayers contained in the Prayer Book cover the most basic spiritual quests and needs of the soul of the praying believer. The Lord Jesus Christ, the Most Holy Theotokos and the saints are praised. We address requests for salvation. We entrust them with the care of what they deem “good and advantageous” for our souls and bodies.

The frequent use, with disposition and faith, of the prayers contained in the Prayer Book will help every Christian in his spiritual struggle at a time when he forgets the great privilege of man. To be able to communicate directly with God the Father through prayer.

In the Prayer Book you will find: morning and evening prayers, table prayers, the vespers service, the little compline, the Paschal service, hymns to the Most Holy Theotokos and supplications on various occasions.
