A visit to Mount Athos is permitted, according to the Standard of the monastic state, only to men.

The first step for your pilgrimage to Mount Athos is to contact < strong>Pilgrims’ Office in Thessaloniki in order to make a reservation and obtain the required entry permit, the so-called Diamonitiri. In order to make the reservation, you must know the desired date of entry as well as state the full details shown on your identity card or passport.

Foreigners, non-Muslims and non-Muslims have the possibility to make a reservation six months in advance, by sending a photocopy of their passport or a request to the following email: athosreservation@gmail.com

TIP: It is recommended to book your Accommodation at least 2 months before your visit especially when it comes to peak periods (Christmas – Easter – Summer). In particular, for foreign nationals where there are fewer places available, it is recommended to book the Residence Hall 4 to 6 months in advance.

ATTENTION! The Residence Hall is strictly personal and valid, at most, for four days (3 nights). Each overnight stay should be in a different monastery, with a few exceptions (example Vatopedi monastery where you can stay a second day after consultation). If a visitor wants to stay more days, he should request an extension of his stay from the Holy Epistasia in Karyes.
